VERSION 2 COURSES

These courses are designed along the Mother Tongue method and consist of two levels.
The mother Tongue method offers considerable advantages over traditional learning methods and is internationally recognised as the most successful system. Working through tedious grammatical theory and memorising lists is now something of the past. The Philips Mother Tongue method of learning was derived from an examination of the natural language acquisition of children a child learns to speak by listening, speaking, comparing and correcting the sounds he or she hears in the world around them and then by repeating this sequence until the principles are correctly grasped. This method is also referred to as the AAC method of learning Audio Active Comparative.

Level one comprises a total of 64 lessons of approximately 30 to 50 minutes each. The student will learn how to use over 400 words that have carefully been selected for frequency and usefulness, in about 1200 sentences. There are a series of exercises to test the students understanding.

The first level has been designed to teach a student who has never seen, heard or spoken the language before. It is also essential to any student that has some basic understanding of the language, but needs to revise the basics so as to further his or her studies of the language. On completion of this level, the student will be able to understand the basics of the target language, as well as make his/herself understand.

Topics learnt will include Greetings, Basic Conversation, The Home, Time, Nature, Family, The Human Body, Money etc.

LEVEL 2

Level two comprises a total of 53 lessons of approximately 30 to 50 minutes each. The student will learn how to use a further 800 words, that have been carefully selected for frequency and usefulness, in an additional 1200 sentences. There are also a series of exercises to test the students understanding.

On completion of this level the student will be able to understand normal everyday situations, enquire about things that he/she does not know. Topics learnt include The Weather, Seasons, Time, Money, Basic Geography and Science, Travel, Dimensions etc.
