The two levels provide students with a starting vocabulary of some 1000 words. These are used in about 2400 sentences, throughout 76 lessons. The courses cover questions and answers likely to be met in everyday conversation. And to ensure the student starts in the right way, the pronunciation on the tapes is crystal clear, and spoken by a native speaker. When levels 1 and 2 are completed, the student will have the ability and confidence to make himself understood & and to enquire about expressions which he may not know. The first two levels also teach how to write correctly the basic material which has been learned. This is done in 50 lessons, which include some 1500 new sentences and expressions. By the time students have completed this level, conversations at normal speech rate will be easily followed. In addition, discussions can be held on a wide range of topics. The students will also, on completion of level 3, be able to follow radio and TV. programmes, and understand 90% of average newspaper articles. LEVEL 4= FOR ADVANCED STUDENTS In 30 extended lessons, a further 1000 words are added to the students vocabulary. Once level 4 has been completed, students will have gone well beyond school level language attainments, and will readily engage in conversations covering a wide variety of subjects. By the end of the 30 lessons in fact, students will have gained a virtually fluent mastery of the language of their choice (film subtitles for examples, will not be needed!). Even people who speak rapidly, or with an accent, in the new language, will be easily followed & and responded to.
